2009 Saint Margaret Pilgrimage

Built by King David I of Scotland in honour of his mother, Queen Margaret, Dunfermline Abbey has been a destination for pilgrims since the time of her Canonisation. In time, a glorious shrine was built over her to only to be destroyed, like so much of Catholic Scotland, at the time of the Reformation.

Una Voce Scotland hopes that this ancient route can be revived. The Pilgrimage will begin at Culross Abbey at 10.30am on Saturday 13th June. The Pilgrimage will include portions of the Liturgy of the Hours, sung according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman rite. There will be popular English devotions along the route and a visit to Saint Margaret's Cave, in Dunfermline itself.

Itinerary
  • 11.00 Terce and Itinerarium at Culross
  • 12.30 (approximately) Sext
  • 16.00 (app.) Arrive at Dunfermline. Litany of the Saints & Vespers around the Shrine of Saint Margaret.
  • 16.45 (app.) Visit to Saint Margaret's cave.
